This year we were delighted to hold our conference at Toynbee Hall, in London. We welcomed our grantholders, partners, investees, volunteers and trustees to come together, to share learnings, explore synergies and build fruitful relationships. We had circa 70 people in attendance.

The theme of the conference was to reflect our value of fairness.  Stephen, our chair, opened the conference and facilitated the conversation with our keynote speaker, Aditya Chakrabortty, Guardian Columnist and senior economics commentator. Aditya is one of our Journalist Fellows and has been exploring how Britain’s economic model has changed in the place he grew up.

Joanna Elson, our Vice Chair and Chief Executive of the Money Advice Trust chaired the plenary: Amplifying and centring diverse voices in the new economic movement, where she was joined by Mary-Ann (Women’s Budget Group) and Jamie Agombar (Students’ Organising for Sustainability (SOS)). As well as Ellen Gibson ( New Deal Rising) who recorded a video.

These sessions have been recorded and subtitled. You can now watch them on Vimeo:

We also had some excellent workshops on:

  • Organisation Wellbeing
  • AGM Activism & the Ethnicity Pay Gap
  • Organising at Elections: Need to Know and Good to Do

These workshops were under Chatham House rules.

Delegates had plenty time to network and socialise and Kat Chatterton, Office Manager at Friends Provident Foundation led delegates in a speed networking session.

We also used Twitter to engage in live content and received lots of interactions.  We have shared more content from the conference on our social media page. Follow the tweets by searching #FProvConf2022

What did people say about the conference

  • Very useful opportunity to network with people who are interested in similar things and might be able to contribute to my own project.
  • Very insightful, informative and a great opportunity to network!
  • Sharing ideas, getting to know people
A brilliant event that underlines how the Friends Provident Foundation is as much a like-minded network of useful contacts as it is a funder.

It was a truly inspiring day and our phenomenal guest speakers explored what makes a fair economy and tackled the subject from a range of perspectives and experiences.
