Staff Spotlight: Jake Furby

Welcome to the first in our series highlighting our staff members. This month we are highlighting Jake Furby.


Jake is a dedicated advocate for equality and has made significant contributions to the community by helping to establish three equality charities (York LGBT Forum, York Pride, York LGBTQ+ History Month) and a CIC in York (Inclusive Equal Rights UK). With over 10 years of experience in the charity sector, Jake brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table.


Jake holds a BA (Hons) Counselling Studies Degree from York St John University, showcasing their commitment to understanding and supporting individuals. Currently pursuing an MA in Equity and Diversity in Society, Jake continues to deepen their understanding of social issues and develop strategies to foster inclusivity.


Jake is passionate about creating inclusive communications and creative exploration of amplifying and convening our mission and the work of our grantholders and investees.


Beyond their professional endeavors, Jake nurtures their creative side. They find solace in painting, expressing themselves through vibrant colors and captivating imagery. Writing poetry is another outlet that allows them to explore emotions, stories, and social themes. Additionally, Jake’s curiosity for the past takes them to historical buildings, where they relish in the architectural beauty and delve into the stories behind them.
