Friends Provident Foundation Seeking Values-Aligned Investment Advice

Author: Friends Provident Foundation

Date: 05/03/2024

We believe the purpose of investment should be to direct capital to socially and environmentally useful activity, to create social as well as economic value, and to help address societal challenges; rather than to focus on short-term financial returns.

To support this, we are seeking to appoint an external adviser on an ongoing basis to provide advice on our investment portfolio. The investment adviser will provide strategic guidance and oversight, report on the financial returns of the portfolio and the progress of our investment strategy against its objectives for income and capital growth.

Other key outputs will be:

  • Recommending appropriate benchmarks and targets
  • Monitoring financial performance of our investment managers
  • Advising on market trends and regulatory changes
  • Ensuring full understanding of all investment costs

The Adviser will be available for between 5 and 7 days a year.

We are looking for someone aligned with our charitable foundation’s mission of a fair and sustainable economy. They must be permitted to provide investment advice under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 and have a current registration on the Financial Services Register. Clear communication of investment matters and a collaborative approach are essential. The adviser will work with our staff team, trustees, investment committee, and may be asked to attend governance meetings. Their expertise will directly enable our foundation to deliver our mission.
