Apply to Join the Future Generations Panel for the Investing olympics!
Date: 01/06/2025

Interested in changing how money works?
Investing is like voting with money. When people invest, they choose which businesses and ideas get to grow and which ones don’t. If people invest in electric car companies, we get more electric cars. If nobody invests in fast food chains, those businesses might be less successful. The choices made today are building the world we’ll live in tomorrow.
Even though investment impacts young people and future generations the most, they are the most excluded from decision-making. We believe this needs to change.
As part of the upcoming Investing olympics, we are aiming to bring the world of investing into the light and challenge the industry to work for the needs of future generations.
We are looking for 6 young people who will form the Future Generations Panel to shape how the Investing olympics works and support investment decisions worth many millions of pounds.
Apply to be a part of the Future Generations Panel
Would you like to be one of 6 young adults to join the Future Generations Panel for the Investing olympics?
The panel will come together over 7 days between August 2025 and June 2026 to help shape how we make investing decisions in the 2026 Investing olympics. This will include joining the Investing olympics event on Wednesday 25 March 2026.
You will be paid £200 per day and will be supported throughout the process by experts in investing and the risks that future generations face.
You do not need specific skills or experience to apply, but must:
- Be aged between 18 and 25 years old (at the time of making the application)
- Live in the UK
- Be able to attend the seven days from now until June 2026
Please complete this 5-minute application form to tell us a little more about yourself below.
Applications close at 9am on Monday 28th July.
What will the role involve?
If you’re selected, you’ll be invited to take part in a mix of online and in-person sessions. These will be facilitated and will include open discussions, training, and guided sessions to help shape and influence the investing process. You’ll let us know the information and support you want to take part in the process. You do not need to have any prior investment or financial experience.
We’re committed to making this opportunity work for people from all kinds of backgrounds. If you have questions, are unsure whether this is for you, or want to talk about how we can support any access needs, please get in touch with both:
Charlie Crossley (Project Coordinator, Friends Provident Foundation)
Oli Whittington (Project Co-Designer and Facilitator, external consultant)
You can also join one of the following 30-minute introduction sessions:
- Monday 14th July 2025, 11:00 – 11:30am.

How will we select the Future Generations Panel?
We are looking to recruit a diverse panel of young adults who are often excluded from investment decisions and most at risk of future social, environmental and economic threats.
We will select people at random to create a diverse mix of experience, including:
- Where people live
- Their age
- The gender they identify as
- Their experience of social or economic marginalisation
- Their experience of environmental risks
If we selected people based on experience from school or work, or our interpretation of their motivation to work with us, it would risk bringing bias into the process. That’s why we want to learn a little more about you and your experiences to make sure that we meaningfully shift power to young people like you!
You can read Friends Provident Foundation’s privacy policy here.
Note: Our safeguarding policy is currently being updated. Safeguarding measures — including relevant checks and training — will be in place and shared with you before the convenings begin.
Who are we and where are we coming from
The Investing olympics involves charitable foundations coming together. A charitable foundation is an organisation that uses its money to try to make the world better. Many do this by granting money to causes. Another important part of what they do is investing their money.
When we talk about making things better for future generations, we’re not dreaming of a perfect world. We want to invest towards a future where people and the planet are treated better – where money and power are used more fairly.
Picture this: everyone has a decent place to live and a good job. We all have clean energy and healthy food we can afford. The environment is recovering, communities are doing well, and people can get around safely without it costing too much. Education helps wellbeing as well as achievement.
You might not agree with all of this, and that’s okay! We want to hear what you think. But we thought it was right to show you where we’re coming from and what we believe in.
We also believe that when big decisions get made, it should not just be by a few powerful people in secret meetings. More people should get a say. This process won’t be perfect on that point — but we’re serious about opening the doors much more than is usually done in investing.
