What makes a good application?

Guidance to help you prepare your application.

Strong applications are

  • Clear: They don’t rely on jargon, overly technical terms or acronyms. Readers of your application will be informed but may not be experts in your work. Please write the application as if FPF have no prior knowledge of your organisation.
  • Honest: Provide evidence and examples of the claims you make about your organisation and the impact of your work. However, this means you do not need to be humble. If your organisation has had outstanding achievement and impact, please include this.
  • Consistent: Applications are reviewed as a whole, not as single questions. We expect answers for later questions to make sense, based on what has already been written.
  • Focused on economic systems change: Throughout the application it’s clear that the proposed work’s ultimate aim is changing the current economic system.

Application parameters

Applications must:

  • be no longer than 4 pages long (excluding the cover page of the template document).
  • use minimum size 12 font size.
  • use a san-serif font, such as Arial, Calibri or Aptos.
  • have margins set as ‘normal’.
  • not contain images or diagrams.
  • any hyperlinks included will not be opened.

Applications which do not meet these parameters by the finalisation dates will not be able to be submitted within the original intended time frame. They can be submitted into the next cohort, once they have met our guidelines.
