Duration:24 months

Policy-making

The UK’s economy is fundamentally unfair with manifest injustice in policies, structures, and institutions. The tax system reinforces and perpetuates this unfairness, and in turn, deprives the state of revenues from tax which fund vital public services. Opportunities for reform are constrained.

What will the project try to achieve?

The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) Centre for Economic Justice will “shift the mainstream” on UK tax reform ahead of the next general election from one focused on lower taxes to one of fairer taxes. With targeted interventions and coordination across the movement, we will lay the groundwork for ambitious post-election tax reform regardless of who forms the next government.

Who might be interested in this project?

The economic and environmental justice movement, tax campaigners and reformers, print and broadcast media and business and citizen groups.
