What is the issue?
Our global economic system is failing to meet the needs of hundreds of millions of people around the world and is degrading the planetary services upon which we depend. Whilst awareness of these issues is at an all-time high, companies are never likely to make much headway in tackling any of them until we can first answer one simple question: What does a sustainable company actually look like?
What will the project try to achieve?
The Future-Fit Foundation (whose legal name is the 3D Investment Foundation) is developing the Future-Fit Business Benchmark: a complete set of Goals and Key Performance Indicators that define how a company must address the most critical environmental and social issues to be truly sustainable. It will enable any company to measure the gap between where it is now and where it needs to be to contribute positively to society as a whole – to be Future-Fit.
Who might be interested in this project?
Four groups might be interested: i) Company employees who want to understand how to make their business truly sustainable (Future-Fit), ii) Investors seeking to understand the impact of their portfolios on the planet and society, iii) Sustainability Experts who can help make the benchmark complete and sufficient, and iv) Individual Consumers who want to buy genuinely sustainable products.
Please note that this project was funded under our broader Right Use of Money theme rather than as a Resilient Economies project.
