Caroline is the Chief Executive at Essex Community Foundation, which develops long-term philanthropic resources for local benefit.

She advises high net worth individuals, businesses, public agencies and charitable trusts on the most effective ways to invest their charitable giving to meet social need. Each year the Foundation gives over £4 million of funding to grassroots organisations from a growing endowment fund of circa £50 million.

She advises the Foundation’s Board on policy and strategy and is interested in social justice, data, and governance.

She has previously worked with large, national charities including, Institute of Fundraising and National Federation of Women’s Institutes. Board roles include Independent Chair, Bank of England Citizen Forum, UK Community Foundations Membership Committee, Rosa the UK Fund for Women and Girls, Northumbrian Water and Essex & Suffolk Water Consumer Challenge Group and the Fair Share Trust, a £50 million, national 10 year funding programme.

Caroline holds a master’s degree in Philanthropy, Social Investment and Grantmaking from Bayes Business School and a bachelor’s degree in Communications. She has over 25 years’ experience within the charity sector and cares deeply about empowering others and working with local communities to bring about lasting change.
